Studies of Society and Environment
The importance of understanding community, developing a sense of belonging within a community, and developing skills in actively contributing to that community is a central component of the curriculum at Kensington Centre. Students are empowered to believe that they can make a difference to the local and wider community.
Environmental initiatives: Gardening, tree planting, recycling, letters to the council, emails to organisations, advertising, posters, and multimedia products.
Student Voice: Fundraising for special community events and charities, Very Important Person Day - students plan and invite community members into the school for tours and performances.
Within Personal Learning Plans and Integrated Studies, students are encouraged to develop inquiry projects into national and world wide issues and events of interest.
